Risk Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Lead Risk Manager responsible for FTR risk assessment and control.
• Develop, improve, and run FTR historical analysis as well as work with desk analytics to develop
• Forward looking congestion scenarios.
• Work closely with the Finance and Front office to lead the PNL recognition process.
• Continually develop understanding of and monitor market conditions and trader positions and rationale, being prepared to discuss with management and front office and make recommendations on exposures and risk.
• Monitor traders’ compliance to risk controls including VAR, stress test, drawdown, and stop loss limits, and determine and monitor appropriate secondary limits such as volume or cost.
• Work closely with other [CLIENT] risk managers to run analysis on power and gas prop trading and structured products.
• Manage daily relationships to key stakeholders including senior management, front office, middle office, operations, finance, and IT.
• Review new products and deal types and provide recommendations to CRO on appropriate controls.
• Work closely with IT/development team to specify/prototype/validate new models and risk system tools and reporting capabilities.

Preferred qualifications:

• Must have strong working knowledge of FTR markets and modeling techniques.
• 5 – 10 years’ experience in market risk and/or commodities with exposure to US power
• (including congestion), natural gas, and global oil markets.
• Knowledge of derivatives, option pricing and greeks, and how these products price and are traded in their relevant markets.
• Coding skills, pre[ferably in Python, if not, strong abilities in other languages such as R, SQL, VBA a plus.
• Strong quantitative abilities and knowledge.
• Strong communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field of study
