Summary:

We’re looking for a fundamental gas analyst with strong technical skills to join our North American Gas & Power business. This is a growth-oriented commercial role that will interact and collaborate closely with key members of the Research, Trading/Business Development, and Data Science teams.  1-5 years of gas market experience desired, including familiarity with relevant gas market datasets (e.g. pipeline flow, weather, price, benchmark, and third party datasets).

The analyst should be capable of independently developing regional and macro supply-demand balances, but a collaborative approach with stakeholders will be essential. Responsibilities will follow the commercial analytics lifecycle, from the onboarding of market data and maintenance of data pipelines, quantitative model development (including automation), and commercially facing analysis. Interactions with traders and commercial leadership will be frequent, and we will support the candidate to grow into a meaningful role matching their longer-term interests.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate a strong understanding of and interest in physical and commercial North American gas and power markets and associated data sets (e.g. EIA, state, third party vendor data)
2. Leverage a strong technical skills including time series analysis, power flow modelling, statistics, machine learning, and handling large datasets
3. Produce commercially relevant insights which assist in risk-taking activities of the US gas and power teams
4. Work with other US gas and power analysts to develop, maintain, and improve models
5. Collaborate closely with Data Science and Engineering team on joint projects and managing data pipelines related to North American gas markets
6. Develop data visualization tools for users to view market data and the results of internal analysis
7. Collaborate with fundamental analysts across US gas, US power, LNG, Carbon, and European markets

Experience:

1. at least 2-5 Yrs

Quantitative/Technical Skills:

1. Programming Languages: Python, SQL
2. Strong Statistics/Econometrics experience or coursework

• Especially time series
• Machine Learning

3. Experience with visualization (e.g. Tableau/PowerBI/Plotly)
4. AWS or similar cloud infrastructure experience
